Biography

Alison Chan is an Associate Attorney with the firm’s Chicago and Missouri offices, focusing on asbestos defense, toxic tort litigation, and general civil litigation. She began her career with the firm as a Litigation Paralegal, building a strong foundation in case strategy and litigation support that is now integral to her role as an attorney.

Alison brings a diverse litigation background to her practice, with experience in plaintiff-side civil litigation and criminal prosecution. Her early legal work helped shape her strategic, detail-oriented approach to complex civil defense matters.

Prior to law school, Alison served as a bilingual volunteer with the Asian Law Caucus in San Francisco—the nation's first legal and civil rights organizations dedicated to serving low-income, immigrant, and underserved Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.

During law school, Alison earned Pro Bono Honors and the Dean’s Award for Leadership & Scholarship and competed on both the National Mock Trial and Moot Court Teams. She served as a Judicial Extern for the Hon. David De Alba (Ret.), (then) Presiding Judge of the Sacramento Superior Court, where she conducted in-depth legal research and analysis for judicial proceedings, and contributed to judicial initiatives focused on mental health policy reform, alongside Hon. Lloyd Connelly (Ret.). She also externed with the Supreme Court of California’s Capital Central Staff, assisting with judicial matters for death penalty appeals and habeas corpus matters.

Outside the office, Alison enjoys traveling, spending time with her partner and their three dogs, and exploring new cuisines and cultures. She is deeply committed to mentorship, actively supporting high school, college, and law students from diverse backgrounds who aspire to enter the legal profession—as a way of giving back to the mentors who supported her own path to the profession.
