Sarah Costa is Of Counsel in the Chicago office of Sinars Slowikowski. She focuses her practice on the defense of medical malpractice, products liability, and toxic tort claims, including asbestos litigation. With nearly a decade of defense-side experience, Sarah guides clients through every stage of litigation, from early case assessment and written discovery through depositions, expert witness development, and dispositive motion practice. 

In her medical malpractice practice, Sarah has defended physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers against claims of professional negligence. Her health law background, including a certificate in health law and experience working alongside the in-house legal team of a large Illinois hospital system, gives her practical insight into the clinical and regulatory realities her clients face. 

In her toxic tort and products liability practice, Sarah has successfully represented suppliers, manufacturers, premises owners, and contractors in mass tort and product liability matters, with a particular emphasis on asbestos and occupational exposure claims. 

Earlier in her career, Sarah handled commercial litigation, representing clients in contract disputes ranging from construction matters to medical billing claims. During law school, she served as a law clerk in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio and as an extern with the in-house counsel of a large Illinois hospital system. 

Sarah earned her J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2017, along with a Certificate in Health Law. While in law school, she was a published member of the Annals of Health Law and was active in the Health Law Society and the Women’s Law Society. She received her B.S. in Psychology from the University of Dayton in 2014.
